Rail Canter – the Highly Capable 4WD Road Rail Lorry

The Aquarius Rail Canter has been employed on the rail infrastructure since 2006 and has proven to be an invaluable ‘work horse’.

With an increased payload (when compared to the Rail Truck and Ranger) the Aquarius Rail Canter is a compact and highly capable vehicle. The Rail Canters’ uses include welding, P-way maintenance, rail inspections, weed spraying, equipment and material transport; and can be manufactured with a rear pick up or a box body and tail lift, with a telescopic crane attachment.

When equipped with a crane

  • The payload is 1750kg including men on road, 2750kg on rail
  • 2.4m x 2.1m drop side tray
  • Telescopic crane
  • Lifting of bulk bags and other weighty items
  • Lifts up to 4m from centre of track on either side:
    • The safe working loads are 990kg at 2.2 metres, 715kg at 3 metres and 500kg at 4 metres.
  • Concrete sleeper recovery and laying out
